Art Materials - Argenton Chateau
A course materials list is sent to all accepted students approximately six weeks
before the first day of class (dry media for drawing and oil color for painting are preferred.)
Solvents and a basic painting medium are provided for sale at the studio.
Therefore, you can bring all your supplies on the plane as checked luggage (not carry-on), or ship them 2-3 weeks
ahead of your arrival. Always use regular post airmail. Please ask us for advice on labeling
to avoid paying customs charges.
If you prefer to work with specific brands of extra-fine art materials (specific oil-primed linens, oil grounds, fine art
papers, etc) you should bring them with you.
Note: Buying a brand new French easel/landscape box in France for landscape painting is less expensive
than mailing yourself one. The course studio provides easels, and virtually all housing in A-C offers studio easels for private use outside of class.
For Intensive Courses in Argenton-Chateau, we highly recommend using
Boesner online in Bordeaux, for
advance ordering of course supplies and fine arts materials. They offer an extremely large selection,
including Schmincke-Mussini and Old Holland oil colours at wholesale prices.
Students fill out their own orders, using order forms from the current catalogue.
Orders are placed by fax, and take 5 - 7 business days to arrive.
BOESNER online catalogue sales (Vente en ligne) are in French only. Click
here for their site.

For any course in ARGENTON-CHATEAU, students with their own cars can drive to Dalbe in suburban Angers, a fine arts retail store that carries a standard range of fine artist's materials.
Dalbe - 14, rue Charles La Cretelle, 49070 Beaucouzé (near Angers)
